On the evening of September 25, 2024, the National Outstanding Engineers College of Central South University successfully launched the first China-Indonesia student cultural exchange event for the 2024 Indonesian Metallurgy Class in Classroom 102, North Science and Education Building. The activity aimed to build a platform for Chinese cultural exchanges, helping international students gain in-depth understanding of Chinese culture and foster friendship with China.

Present at the event were Professor Chen Ailiang, Vice Dean of the college, Professor Wang Qinmeng, Vice Dean of the School of Metallurgy and Environment, Professor Sun Yongqi, homeroom teacher of the 2024 Indonesian Metallurgy Class, academic administrator He Jiamin and all students. The event was hosted by Professor Sun Yongqi.

At the opening of the activity, Professor Chen Ailiang extended a warm welcome to international students. She stated that a series of China-Indonesia exchange activities would help them better learn about traditional Chinese culture. She put forward three expectations for overseas students: first, quickly integrate into campus life and embrace CSU to fulfill personal aspirations; second, master professional knowledge, strengthen practical capabilities, and strive to become leading talents for Indonesias national development; third, experience traditional Chinese culture in depth, tell authentic Chinese stories, and serve as backbone forces for Sino-foreign cultural exchanges.

In his speech, Professor Wang Qinmeng emphasized that the Indonesian Metallurgy Class shoulders the mission of advancing high-level scientific, technological and cultural cooperation between China and Indonesia. He hoped that students would concentrate on academic studies, appreciate and carry forward fine traditional Chinese culture, and make new contributions to broadening and upgrading bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Liu Weijia from the 2023 Outstanding Metallurgical Engineering Class delivered a speech themed Charming Changsha, introducing the citys charm from perspectives of geographical location, natural scenery, cultural relics and local delicacies.

The exchange proceeded in a relaxed and lively atmosphere. Indonesian students learned about Changshas unique glamour and profound local culture, and engaged in enthusiastic interactions with Chinese student representatives.

Since September 2019, Central South University, the Indonesian government and GEM Group have jointly launched the joint training program for international master students majoring in metallurgy and new energy materials. Designed to be an influential landmark project comparable to the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway, it has grown into a model program for scientific, technological and people-to-people exchanges under the Belt and Road Initiative.

Co-organized by the National Outstanding Engineers College and the School of Metallurgy and Environment, this cultural exchange activity enables Indonesian students to understand, embrace and promote fine traditional Chinese culture. Through such events, the college strives to cultivate a group of talents who are friendly to China and committed to boosting pragmatic exchanges and cooperation between China and Indonesia.
