On the afternoon of November 4, the 2024 Working Conference of the International Innovation Alliance for Green Metallurgical Development was grandly held in Changsha, Hunan Province. More than 40 representatives from well-known universities, scientific research institutes and enterprises in the global metallurgical field attended the conference. The conference was hosted by Chen Ailiang, Vice Dean of the College of Outstanding Engineers, Central South University.
Cheng Qiongwen, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Metallurgy and Environment, Central South University, attended the conference and delivered a speech. He pointed out that as an important pillar of the national economy, the green transformation of the metallurgical industry is not only an inevitable choice to achieve sustainable development, but also our common responsibility and mission. The alliance will always adhere to the guidance of the development concept of "innovation, coordination, green development, openness and sharing", commit to building a mechanism for in-depth integration of industry, university, research and application, promote scientific and technological innovation, cultivate professional talents, and serve the global metallurgical industry. Looking to the future, we will take moral education as the fundamental task, scientific and technological innovation as the guide, and open sharing as the platform to jointly promote the green development of the metallurgical industry and make greater contributions to the achievement of global sustainable development goals.
At the conference, Du Ke, Director of the Innovation-driven Office of GEM Co., Ltd., delivered a speech, stating that GEM will continue to rely on Central South University and the alliance to contribute to the green and sustainable development of the metallurgical industry in the future. Professor Toyohisa Fujita from the University of Tokyo, Professor Yeonuk Choi from Queen's University in Canada, as well as experts and scholars from Aluminum Corporation of China Limited, China Mining and Metallurgy Technology Group Co., Ltd. and other units conducted in-depth exchanges on talent and technology needs, and put forward valuable suggestions and opinions on the development of the International Innovation Alliance for Green Metallurgical Development.
In the concluding speech, it was pointed out that facing the demand for green and low-carbon development of the global metallurgical industry, the International Innovation Alliance for Green Metallurgical Development will take the training of professional metallurgical talents as the guarantee, scientific and technological innovation as the guide, the promotion of the application of scientific and technological achievements as the measure, and serving the global metallurgical industry as the pursuit, to promote the green transformation and sustainable development of the industry and realize the high-quality development of the global metallurgical industry.
