To accelerate the construction of the university’s National Outstanding Engineers College and fulfill the mission of fostering reserve outstanding engineering talents, Chen Ailiang, Vice Dean of our college, and counselor Lei Xiaoke paid a research and exchange visit to the National Outstanding Engineers College of Chongqing University on November 10, 2024. Guo Kunyin, Deputy Secretary of the General Party Branch, Huang Cong, Administrator of the Party and Administration Office, and Chen Hongying, Deputy Supervisor of the Teaching Office of Chongqing University’s college attended the exchange meeting and accompanied the visit.
At the meeting, Deputy Secretary Guo Kunyin introduced the college’s development from the perspectives of school-running orientation, academic structure, industry-education integration, talent training and scientific innovation incubation. He stated that the college adopts a dual council management system jointly led by Chongqing Municipal Government and the college. Based on core technologies of intelligence and new energy, it focuses on featured fields including intelligent connected vehicles, intelligent manufacturing and innovative design of smart products. By establishing exemplary project-based teaching modes, it has built a multi-level integrated talent training system covering undergraduate and postgraduate education, and efficiently integrated high-quality educational resources from enterprises, research institutes and universities.

During the symposium, both sides had in-depth discussions on the preparation process of outstanding engineers colleges, construction of school-enterprise tutor teams, talent training systems, industry-university-research collaborative development, establishment of engineering technology centers and laboratories, as well as the building of enterprise research project databases, and explored ways to develop distinctive independent training systems for outstanding engineers.

After the meeting, Deputy Secretary Guo Kunyin led the delegation to visit the exhibition hall, teaching and experimental areas, as well as specialized laboratories including intelligent chip laboratory, artificial intelligence laboratory, motor control laboratory and intelligent consumer-end laboratory. The group also inspected campus facilities such as activity zones, dormitories, canteens and sports venues.

This visit helps our college further optimize faculty development and infrastructure construction. It enables the college to better advance engineering education reform and cultivate strategic talents for the country. The college will strive to nurture outstanding engineers who are patriotic, dedicated, proficient in professional technologies and capable of solving complex engineering problems, and contribute wisdom and strength from Central South University to building China into a great power in education, science and technology.
