On November 26, 2024, the unveiling ceremony of Yunnan Yeyang New Energy Technology Research Institute and the appointment ceremony for members of its Technical Committee were held at Yunnan Yeyang New Energy Materials Co., Ltd. Li Xinhai, Professor of Central South University and Honorary Dean of the Research Institute, Wang Zhixing, Professor of Central South University and Chief Scientist of the Research Institute, together with Professors Wu Feixiang and Tang Chunxia from the university attended the event to witness this important milestone in the new energy industry. The ceremony was presided over by Qian Hong, Deputy General Manager of Yunnan Yeyang New Energy Materials Co., Ltd.
In his speech, Professor Li Xinhai put forward suggestions and prospects for the future development of the institute. First, gather outstanding talents and recruit top scholars and experts from various disciplines and fields to build a powerful team engaged in basic research and engineering technological development. Second, fully leverage Yunnan’s superior resources including phosphorus, lithium, nickel, cobalt, copper, aluminum and other non-ferrous metals, integrate the whole industrial chain covering resource exploitation, metal extraction and battery material manufacturing. The institute shall develop proprietary technologies such as material metallurgy for cathode materials of lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries, and apply these cost-effective original research achievements to the production lines of Yeyang New Energy to underpin its high-quality development. Third, he hoped that governments at all levels in Yunnan Province and Yuxi City would further offer strong support in terms of policies, resources and funds for the institute’s development.
Yao Xuesong, leader of the special working group for the whole industrial chain of new energy batteries in Yuxi City, delivered a speech. He affirmed the great importance attached by the Yuxi Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government to the development of new energy battery industry, and spoke highly of the institute’s development philosophy of integrating industry, academia, research and application. He stated that relevant departments in Yuxi City would fully support the construction and growth of the institute, so as to accelerate the formation of a complete industrial chain for new energy batteries in the city.
Later, Leader Yao Xuesong and Professor Li Xinhai jointly unveiled the plaque of Yunnan Yeyang New Energy Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd. As the red silk fell slowly, the institute officially embarked on its new journey. Going forward, it will cooperate with all partners to seek common development, boost local economic growth and fuel the advancement of the new energy industry.
