On December 3, 2024, the Training Session on Shared Application of Core Courses for Engineering Masters and Doctors in Key Fields was successfully held by the Department of Degree Management and Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Education. Adopting an online-offline integrated format, the event gathered more than 200 representatives from the Ministry of Education, 68 universities and XuetangX. The meeting was presided over by Han Fei, Director of the Professional Degree Division of China Academic Degrees & Graduate Education Development Center. Chen Ailiang, Vice Dean of our college, Dai Yanyang, Director of the Administrative Office, Tan Xiaoyu, Postgraduate Education Officer, Liao Yuxin, Deputy Director of the Department of Artificial Intelligence, Zhang Zongliang, Director of the Department of New Energy Materials and Devices and other relevant teachers attended the meeting online.

At the opening of the meeting, Qi Yanwei, Deputy Director of the Academic Degrees & Graduate Education Development Center, introduced the background, progress and achievements of core curriculum construction for engineering postgraduates in key fields. He elaborated on the features of such core courses: first, oriented toward cultivating the ability to solve complex engineering problems; second, featuring cutting-edge perspectives, interdisciplinary nature, high academic standards and practical challenges; third, empowered by digital technology to fuel the development of high-quality curriculum systems. He stressed that priority should be given to the practical application of courses, ensuring standardized and safe use within the specified scope, effective coverage among teachers and students, and in-depth integrated application.
During the session, Zhang Gaomeng from XuetangX gave a detailed introduction to the operation of the core course learning platform for outstanding engineers from six aspects, including platform functions, class establishment procedures for university administrators, operational guidelines for teachers, learning methods for students, on-site demonstrations and solutions to common problems.
Zhang Bo, Vice President of XuetangX, stated that the platform will keep supporting curriculum construction, optimize course launch and daily operation, and provide solid services for all talent training institutions.
Liang Renzhi from the Department of Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Education expressed sincere gratitude to all participating universities. To advance the application of core courses for outstanding engineers, he put forward three requirements: first, teachers and students shall quickly get familiar with platform operations; second, accurately allocate curriculum resources and carry out trial application within prescribed limits; third, promote joint development, sharing and universal utilization of curriculum resources, and improve the supporting application ecosystem including credit conversion and regular course upgrading. He expressed the hope to cooperate with all universities to boost innovative development of engineering postgraduate education and contribute to national scientific and technological progress and social development.
All participants agreed that the training session was informative. It deepened universities’ understanding and practical mastery of core curriculum resources, built a sound platform for academic exchanges, and facilitated mutual learning and joint progress among all attendees.
