On the morning of February 23, the college held a seminar on the construction of engineering cases for postgraduate courses. The seminar aimed to implement the strategic deployment of training outstanding engineering talents, better cultivate master’s and doctoral talents in the new energy field, promote the integration of typical industry-education integration engineering cases into classrooms, and enhance students’ concept of large-scale engineering, systematic engineering thinking and innovative thinking. Professor Qin Yihong, an expert from the university’s teaching supervision group, Professor Li Kun from the Powder Metallurgy Research Institute, Professor Wang Zhixing, Professor Wang Jiexi, Professor Li Jiangtao from the School of Metallurgy and Environment, and other leaders, experts and teacher representatives attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Chen Ailiang, vice president of our college.

At the beginning of the meeting, Chen Ailiang detailed the key work requirements for engineering case construction to the participants. She emphasized that the selection of engineering cases should closely align with the training requirements of master’s and doctoral talents in engineering, combine with core courses, highlight the positioning of "cultivating people with moral education, integrating industry and education, and interdisciplinary integration", and serve the training goal of outstanding engineering talents with high quality.
Professor Li Jiangtao elaborated on the project "Innovation and Application of Tungsten-Molybdenum Smelting Technology" by the team of Academician Zhao Zhongwei. Based on rich practical teaching and case development experience for master’s and doctoral students in engineering, the project, in conjunction with tungsten-molybdenum smelting enterprises, summarized typical cases in metallurgical engineering practice, focusing on cultivating the innovative thinking and comprehensive "engineering +" capabilities of outstanding engineering postgraduates in the new era. Professor Wang Jiexi explained the project "Design and Development of High-Nickel Cathode Materials for Lithium-Ion Batteries and Technological Innovation in Intelligent Manufacturing" by the team of Professor Li Xinhai. Focusing on talent training in the new energy field, based on the frontier of materials and chemical engineering development, and combining interdisciplinary backgrounds such as metallurgy, materials, chemistry and automation, the project aims to promote postgraduate education in interdisciplinary disciplines such as materials and chemical engineering, new energy and energy storage engineering.

Three experts, Professor Qin Yihong, Professor Li Kun and Professor Wang Zhixing, carefully listened to the content of engineering case construction by Professor Li Jiangtao and Professor Wang Jiexi. The expert group emphasized that the selection of postgraduate cases should be different from undergraduate teaching, match the training of outstanding master’s and doctoral talents in engineering, focus on cutting-edge, interdisciplinary, typical and enlightening nature, and the cases should highlight teaching applicability, advanced technical theory and enlightening thinking, providing targeted guidance and suggestions for the curriculum teaching team to further improve the engineering case construction work.

This seminar on engineering case construction achieved remarkable results, enriched the teaching resources of industry-education integration engineering cases, and set a good example for the construction of other engineering cases in the college.
