On March 19, 2025, to deeply explore the deep integration of AI technology and higher engineering education and assist in the construction of the outstanding engineer talent cultivation system, the college, jointly hosted with the Low-Carbon Intelligent Metallurgical Engineering Professional Virtual Teaching and Research Office and co-organized by Wisdom Tree Network, successfully held the "AI Empowering New-Format Courses" Innovation Seminar in Conference Room 502, Science and Education North Building, Central South University. The meeting adopted a hybrid online-offline format, attracting over 70 faculty members from multiple universities including Central South University, Chongqing University, Hunan University of Technology and Business, and Kunming University of Science and Technology. The event was chaired by Vice Dean Chen Ailiang of the college.

The meeting invited Associate Professor Huang Ying from the National University of Defense Technology and leader of Hunan Province's quality courses to deliver a themed sharing on "Digital Intelligence Empowerment, AI Assisting Teaching Reform." Using the construction of the smart course Fundamentals of Information Theory and Coding as an example, she shared with faculty how AI technology can reconstruct teaching scenarios: conducting teaching with different course versions based on different learning situations, enhancing classroom engagement through dynamic classrooms, achieving integrated teaching and research through problem guidance, and real-time dynamic monitoring through task-driven approaches. In her sharing, she pointed out that AI can not only improve teaching efficiency but also achieve personalized cultivation of "teaching students in accordance with their aptitude" through data-driven precise measures.

During the exchange session, attending faculty actively asked questions, creating a lively atmosphere. They conducted in-depth discussions on the application and challenges of AI technology in course construction, jointly exploring how to better utilize AI technology to enhance teaching effectiveness and talent cultivation quality. Attending experts unanimously agreed that with the development of big data, artificial intelligence, and other technologies, smart education will become an inevitable trend in future education development. Universities should actively embrace this transformation and promote the construction and application of smart courses.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Vice Dean Chen Ailiang delivered a summary speech. She stated that this seminar provided valuable experience and inspiration for course construction at the Central South University National Graduate College For Elite Engineers, and expressed her hope that all faculty members could better integrate AI technology into course construction, promote the construction and development of new-format course systems, and inject new momentum into high-quality talent cultivation.

This lecture was the inaugural event of the college's new-format course innovation seminar series, marking a new starting point for the college in exploring artificial intelligence empowering new-format courses. In the future, the college will also invite experts from various fields to share their experiences in new-format course construction, providing foundational guarantees for outstanding engineer cultivation.
