To deepen industry-education integration, expand postgraduates' academic horizons, enhance their ability to integrate theory with practice, and cultivate elite engineers, on November 5, the National Graduate College for Elite Engineers of Central South University organized nearly 20 doctoral students from the university-enterprise joint course class of "Special Topics on New Energy and Energy Storage Engineering" to go to Hunan Hengchuang Ruineng New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. in Xiangyin County, Hunan Province under the leadership of Professor Junchao Zheng, the course leader, to carry out a rich and in-depth on-site teaching and exchange activity.

This on-site teaching is an important practical link in the curriculum system of "New Energy and Energy Storage Engineering". It aims to deeply understand the real development trends and technical challenges of the industry, break the boundaries of traditional classrooms, enable students to face the industrial front line directly, and enhance their engineering concept and innovation awareness. As a high-tech enterprise focusing on lithium battery recycling, echelon utilization and recycling, Hunan Hengchuang Ruineng Co., Ltd. provided a high-quality practice platform and professional support for this teaching.

Under the guidance of Dr. Linbo Tang, a technical personnel of the enterprise, teachers and students went deep into the production workshop and technology center, and observed the whole-process production line from waste battery disassembly, crushing and sorting to hydrometallurgy and material remanufacturing on the spot. The abstract principles and technical parameters in the classroom were transformed into visible automated equipment and real-time production data on the spot, enabling students to have a more intuitive and systematic understanding of the key processes of new energy material recycling.

In addition, Dr. Linbo Tang comprehensively introduced the business model, market layout and development strategy to the teachers and students. The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges around key issues in enterprise operation such as the construction of waste battery recycling system, the market competitiveness of recycled materials, and technical economy, and held candid and constructive discussions on common problems facing the industry such as the standardization of recycling channels, the safety of front-end disassembly, the cost control of purification processes, and the performance consistency of recycled materials.

The discussion session was warm with constant sparks of thinking. Combining their own research directions, the doctoral students discussed possible paths to solve the actual technical bottlenecks of the enterprise with enterprise executives and technical backbones around cutting-edge topics such as physical/chemical recycling technology, intelligent detection methods and new material design. The enterprise highly praised the solid academic literacy and keen industrial perspective of the teachers and students from Central South University, and believed that such in-depth integration of "learning, research and production" exchanges injected new ideas into enterprise innovation.
