To further advance interdisciplinary integration, broaden academic horizons and stimulate vitality in engineering innovation, the National Graduate College for Elite Engineers, Central South University held the Elite Engineers Gathering at Yuelu Mountain Foot academic salon on April 22, 2026. Centering on two cutting-edge fields—industrial digitalization and smart healthcare—the event featured thematic reports and open seminars. Chen Ailiang, Vice Dean of the College, together with representatives of master’s and doctoral students, attended the activity, which was hosted by Haoyu Yang, a 2025-intake doctoral student.

Jikun Yang delivered a report entitled Digital Twin of Aluminum Electrolytic Cells. He systematically illustrated the application value of digital twin technology in the operational monitoring, state perception, process optimization and intelligent decision-making of aluminum electrolytic cells. Through the in-depth integration of the Industrial Internet of Things, data modeling and smelting scenarios, he vividly demonstrated the broad prospects of empowering traditional industries with new-generation information technology, prompting in-depth thinking among participants on the path of industrial intelligent upgrading.

Yuxia Guan presented a report titled Research on Key Technologies of Intelligent Assisted Medical Diagnosis and Intelligent Risk Assessment Based on Yunnan Region. Focusing on core technologies such as intelligent assisted diagnosis and intelligent risk assessment, she mainly introduced the exploration path of integrating cutting-edge medical theories with artificial intelligence and large model technologies, further expanding students’ understanding of the interdisciplinary integration of medicine, artificial intelligence and engineering technology.

During the exchange session, teachers and students engaged in heated discussions on digital twin modeling, industrial scenario implementation, technical routes of smart healthcare, and empowerment applications of artificial intelligence. The discussion deepened their understanding of interdisciplinary research and inspired students to reflect further on the alignment between research topic selection and engineering application.

As an important practical initiative for the College to improve its academic exchange platform, strengthen the cultivation of engineering innovation literacy and promote multi-disciplinary integration, the academic salon effectively broke disciplinary barriers, facilitated idea collision and achievement sharing, and fostered an academic ecosystem featuring a realistic, pragmatic and innovative spirit. Going forward, the College will continue to forge ahead with its featured brand Elite Engineers Gathering at Yuelu Mountain Foot, establish a higher-level and multi-dimensional academic exchange platform, drive interdisciplinary and collaborative innovative development, support the growth of graduate students, and continuously pool strength and inject new momentum into cultivating elite engineers with solid research literacy, outstanding innovation capabilities and proficient practical skills.
