On December 6, 2025, the last lecture "Examples of Engineering Economic Analysis" of the first "Digital Engineering Design Leadership Class" of the National Graduate College for Elite Engineers, Central South University was successfully held, marking the successful conclusion of the nearly two-month intensive teaching and learning phase. This course specially invited He Feng, Deputy General Manager and Senior Engineer of China Nerin Engineering Technology Co., Ltd., to give a lecture. Hu Qing, Senior Engineer of Technology and Economics major and Yang Huilan, Senior Engineer of Metallurgy major from China Nerin, Chen Ailiang, Vice Dean of the National Graduate College for Elite Engineers, Professor Liu Weifeng from the School of Metallurgy and Environment, as well as all students of the leadership class participated in the study. The course was presided over by Professor Zhou Lejun from the School of Metallurgy and Environment.

Since its opening on October 18, the leadership class has focused on the theme of "Digital Design and Engineering Application", and carried out eight high-level special teachings in eight consecutive weeks. The course has gathered senior experts from top domestic design and research institutes and engineering companies such as China ENFI Engineering Corporation, China Nerin Engineering Technology Co., Ltd., Guiyang Aluminum-Magnesium Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd., and Changsha Nonferrous Metallurgical Design and Research Institute. Working together with on-campus tutors of the college including Chen Ailiang, Li Qinggang, Peng Zhihong, Chen Yongming, Zhou Lejun, Li Jiangtao and Wang Yilin, it innovatively adopted the teaching model of "enterprise experts giving lectures + on-campus teachers assisting + on-campus and off-campus tutors providing intensive guidance". The content fully covers core topics such as the digital development of mining and metallurgical engineering, metallurgical process design software, factory configuration and general layout design, intelligent control, and engineering economic analysis, systematically connecting the entire process of digital engineering design from design concepts, tool methods to processes, equipment, layout, safety and economic evaluation.

This leadership class is an important teaching practice platform built by the college in response to the national strategy of cultivating elite engineers, deepening industry-education integration, and facing the frontiers of the industry. The course aims to strengthen students' overall grasp of digital engineering design and their ability to solve complex engineering problems. By introducing real project cases and in-depth linkage between university and enterprise dual tutors, it has effectively improved the engineering design ability of students and young teachers.

Cheng Qiongwen, Secretary of the Party Committee of the college, emphasized at the opening ceremony that cultivating "engineering leading talents with both family and country feelings and technological innovation capabilities" is the fundamental mission of the college. By breaking the barriers between disciplines and industries, this leadership class allows students to have in-depth contact with engineering practice during their school years, laying a solid foundation for their future growth into high-level talents supporting the construction of a manufacturing power.


The successful holding of the leadership class marks that the college has made substantial progress in making up for the "design shortcoming" in engineering education and exploring a new mechanism for university-enterprise collaborative education. It also provides a replicable and promotable "Central South Plan" for continuously cultivating high-level engineering talents who can meet the needs of future industries.
