To further deepen interdisciplinary integration, broaden academic horizons on cutting-edge research, and stimulate momentum for engineering innovation, the college successfully hosted the 2nd "Lujian Excellent Engineers" Postgraduate Academic Salon on the afternoon of May 20, 2026. Yao Zhixian and Ma Weijie served as keynote speakers for this session, and participating teachers and students conducted in-depth discussions on cutting-edge new energy storage and battery technologies. Chen Ailiang, Vice Dean of the College, together with postgraduate representatives, attended the event.

First of all, student Ma Weijie delivered a presentation titled Position and Prospect of Lead-Acid Batteries in Energy Power Systems – From Market Landscape to Technological Frontiers: Research on Synergistic Mitigation Strategies for Sulfation. He systematically elaborated on the fundamental role of lead-acid batteries in automotive SLI systems, UPS equipment and stationary energy storage systems, with a focus on synergistic solutions to sulfation issues. By analyzing the global market landscape and state-of-the-art technologies, he illustrated the synergistic mechanism between lead-carbon anodes and electrolyte additives (such as perfluorooctanoic acid). He also presented the groundbreaking effect of rice husk-based activated carbon conductive networks in restraining anode sulfation and hydrogen evolution reactions, triggering in-depth reflections among students on the upgrading paths of traditional energy storage technologies.

Subsequently, student Yao Zhixian gave an academic report entitled Aqueous Zinc-Ion Battery Electrolytes Regulated by Multifunctional Additives – Applications and Performance Improvements of Perovskite-Densified Electrolytes. Catering to the demands of novel energy storage technologies, he mainly introduced research advances in strontium titanate (SrTiO₃) perovskite-densified aqueous electrolytes for aqueous zinc-ion batteries. Experimental data demonstrated that such electrolytes can significantly extend battery cycle life, stabilize Coulombic efficiency above 99% and reduce voltage polarization. This provides a novel strategy to suppress zinc dendrites and solvation by-products, and deepened students’ understanding of electrolyte engineering and interdisciplinary innovation for aqueous zinc-ion batteries.

During the interactive discussion session, teachers and students engaged in heated exchanges covering topics including the functional mechanisms of additives in lead-acid batteries, engineering application prospects of zinc-ion batteries, and industrialization feasibility. Vice Dean Chen Ailiang spoke highly of the high-quality presentations delivered by the two speakers. Drawing on her own research experience, she encouraged students to boldly break disciplinary boundaries and tackle engineering challenges from interdisciplinary perspectives. She also urged all participants to uphold the university motto of "Integrate Knowledge and Action, Apply Learning to Practical Needs", devote themselves wholeheartedly to scientific research, and strive to grow into outstanding engineers equipped with strong innovation capabilities.

The successful holding of this academic salon further consolidated the practical foundation of the college’s "Lujian Excellent Engineers" brand in interdisciplinary innovation and engineering talent cultivation, fostering a vibrant atmosphere for academic exchange and collaborative exploration. All teachers and students expanded their horizons and gained new insights through intensive discussions, remarking that they had reaped abundant rewards. In the future, the college will continuously advance the construction of multi-disciplinary integration platforms, commit itself to cultivating outstanding engineers with forward-looking academic vision and solid professional expertise, and contribute wisdom and strength to serving national strategies for new energy and high-end manufacturing.
